I decided to do a small blob ‘zine in 2013. (“Blobs” are irregular shapes that you can make into imaginary animals.) It’s free!
The ‘zine comes a 6-page digital PDF file that you print out and turn into a book. Each issue will have 11 “blobs” to work from!
There will be a new issue every quarter (4x/year).
And you are welcome to print out as many copies as you like to share with your friends, your kids, and your students.
Click HERE to access Issue #1.
FUTURE ISSUES of “Ye Olde Book of Blobs”
If you’d like to receive Issues 2-4 in 2013, just sign up for my monthly newsletter and you’ll receive the newest PDF as part of the regular newsletter.

I just love your work. So much fun! Thanks for the ezine.
Thanks for the zine! We’ll have so much fun with this.
Oh, I’ve missed the blobs!
Hi Carla,
Sometimes I think you must be drawing and painting 24/7. All these wonderful ideas and inspirations. I used some of the pavement cracks in class already, and I painted some blobs for my students – all of them: BIG SUCCESS.
Now I’m going to print your zine…Thank you!!!

Am so excited that you have done this, I have two of your books and have spent halt term with my children creating a zoo of blob animals. I am starting up a lunchtime free art club at their primary school and had been thinking how fun blobs would be! Your timing is perfect thank you!!
Hi Carla! THANK YOU SO MUCH! It’s Saturday night here in Australia and my red wine alone was doing nothing for me. I just printed your blobby book; just the inspiration I need! xoxo
PS: I’m teaching my teenage students print making (as many different ways that I can think of) this year, have you got any wacky and fun printing ideas?
Carla, thank you so much for always providing such great inspiration and fun! I look forward to making blob creatures and to future installments. I like that there’s room on each page to add some of my own blobs, too. You are the best!
Calar,
This was such a great surprise to find in my email this morning – thank you for the fun!!

All I can say is “Wow”! This is too cool. Thanks so much for sharing this little booklet. I will be waiting with much anticipation for the links in your newsletters for the quarterly “blob books” and the monthly sidewalk cracks (which I LOVE).

Thank you so much for this. I have already printed it out. But I also saved it to a couple drawing apps on my ipad AND I have already done one of the doodles with the app! This is a first for me as I am just trying out apps and have not been much of a doodler anyway. But you have inspired me. Thank you
All I can say is THANK YOU for the jumpstart to my creative rut! I’m loving your blobs. Reminds me of laying in the grass and watching the clouds…..
Thank you Carla !
Nice little book !
Thanks so much for the inspiration, Carla! I printed it out as soon as I saw it and did the first blob. Such a simple idea, but so much fun! You can see the drawing I did here: http://miraculousmosquito.blogspot.co.nz/2013/02/ye-olde-book-of-blobs.html
Carla,
I can’t begin to tell you how you have influenced my life! I met you by chance at an art festival at Seattle Center,I believe it was. I bought your book and was intrigued by it. I was always told ” that’s nice but…” or there was never any encouragement just a snicker or two. That killed any drawing urge or drive I ever had after Jr. High. It left a huge hole in my soul wanting for something. Then there was you!!! Thank you!!!Thank you! Thank you! I did all three of your books -”Drawing for mixed media”, ” Imaginary Animals”, and “The Art of Silliness” and need you to write another one now! (: as I am almost all done with “Drawing for Mixed Media”. I love your BLOBS and sidewalk cracks and all your imagination. You put so much color and creativeness into my life. You are truly gifted ! I am so very grateful that you share it! I am no Picasso but I am still blown away with what comes out of my pencil or whatever with a little work. I just wanted to say “thank you ” to a very special lady for ” filling the hole in my soul ” . I do all kinds of crafts but this was what I really craved to do. I am 65, have 2 daughters,3 grandsons so far and a pharmacist husband and I am now finally discovering a very important part of myself thanks to you. Thank you again from Puyallup,Wa.
Chris Coffler (I am always eagerly anticipating your next inspiration and hope to soon take an online class.)
