I’m glad to be home, but I had a wonderful trip! The images above and below are two of the many wonderful paintings women in my “Voice Lessons” class painted Thursday morning (a Modigliani-inspired portrait). I apologize to the artists for not getting their names… I think the bottom one was by Terry…? Please speak up if it’s yours!!!
I am tired. By the third day of every Artfest I get mentally ill, and look and feel quite a lot like the above painting. I am not really kidding. On Saturday night I was so exhausted that I started to get a bit paranoid.
But after a good night’s sleep, I felt fresh and happy and creatively rejuvinated. I am grateful.
I have many more images to share but Wes is due to come home any moment, so check back tomorrow!

Carla, these images are beautiful; your students did a great job!
I want to thank you again for helping me out at Artfest. Sorry you had the moment of paranoia (we all get ’em!) … you are such a good person.
xxooxx

Hi Carla, glad you made it home safe. I am tired too. Haven’t had the energy to post yet, and going to have some family time since it is spring break week here. It was great to see you. I’m planning to go to Art & Soul in October and noticed you will be there. Maybe we could have lunch, since it seems to be less structured there. That may be an illusion since I’ve never been before. My daughter loves your “girls” necklace as do I. We are going to “share” it. Be good!

You put it perfectly, by the third day of artfest I felt like I had been run over, it is so intense, but so wonderful to be apart of.

hi carla,
the paintings your students did are wonderful!
it was sooooo good to read about your mental health status, it’s so easy to feel like i’m the only one. i feel the same, by friday night i had gotten really paranoid and feeling totally insecure, like everyone could see it too. i’m still experiencing it but to a much lesser degree now, thankfully the bus of GRACE has run over me and I feel it receding. i hope i have some time to chat with you at A & S Portland, we have a lot in common.
