• I am really excited to be teaching “Practicing Whimsy” at The Art Nest Summer Retreat in June. Registration opens this Friday, February 8th at noon… here is the description for my class:

Odd. Silly. Fanciful. Fun! If you would like to develop these characteristics in your work, here’s your chance to learn to “let go” and develop your more whimsical side. We’ll spend a fast-paced morning completing dozens of drawings using a variety of media including pencil, charcoal, ink, crayon and more. In the afternoon we’ll add watercolor, design and composition tips to the mix. We’ll create from life, from photographs and from our imaginations.

The drawings and paintings you create today can be framed, pasted in journals, reworked later, turned into books, or “recycled” (or, most likely, all of the above). BUT, the best thing you’ll bring home is a renewed, childlike confidence with pencil and paper.

  • I’m also really looking forward to taking the classes from Stephanie Lee and Alma Stoller…
  • Other news: I can’t wait to show you the 20+ animal paintings I did during the Play retreat this past weekend. I had such a wonderful, relaxing time hanging out with other artists, learning some new tricks, and working hard with little distraction.
  • (I think it’s telling that I was less distracted in a room of 30+ people than I am at my home studio all alone!)
