This photo was taken in Arizona and is of me (on the left, for those of you who are new or don’t yet know my face, and no, I’m not really very old at all, only 45 — though I realize it’s old for some of you — it’s just all that gray that makes you think so, but I refuse to start the “dying merry-go-round” because I know I would suck at keeping it up!) and Jeanne, a friend I’ve traveled to Artfest with many times (we met there in 2003). We were both so surprised to see each other at Art Unraveled… it’s such a small circle!
Truly, these mixed media art events (such as Artfest, Art & Soul, The Art Nest and Art Unraveled) have changed my life. I’ve met so many wonderful women. They “get” me. I “get” them. I’m very blessed!!
Wes starts school tomorrow and we are about to watch a movie at 4:00 in the afternoon! A back-to-school treat for all of us.
You don’t look that old to me. I sure wish I had never started the dyeing-merry-go-round…..as now, I just can’t seem to get off the darned ride…..I’m 49!
The mixed media art events sound like so much fun.
Edit: The guys are downloading a DOCUMENTARY about OIL. Geez.
Oh! you two look beautiful and happy!!! Hi to Jeanne!!!
Your hair looks great! I’ve been on the haircoloring merry-go-round forever-just went today–ouch, so expensive!!! You’re smart!
Gorgeous girls. And you’re right; dyeing is for people with time and money.
A documentary about oil? snnnnoooooozzze. xo
Hi Carla…thanks for visiting my site…are you in the Suzi Blu group? I could go look, I suppose. I will add you to my blog list.
Carla, I LOVE your hair and woman, you do NOT look “old”. 45 ain’t old! 😉 I’m with you-no getting on that hair dyeing merry go round…
my only continued question is: why are all the best groovy girls on the west coast – or at least west of the Mississippi and why are these work shops so bloomin’ expensive!? Arn’t we all starving artists?
-:-( lonely, sad and poor on the east coast
Me too! No hair color, no botox (ouch), just me. 😉 I re-allocated the beauty budget to art supplies. I would rather buy pastels instead of eyeshadow, paint instead of lipstick (ok, ok, I still buy a little but try and never use it. hehe).
You look great!
I think you’re beautiful…
I hope we can meet sometime when you get to Portland again. I’ll have you out for a private Pino Pie party and we can eat pie, hug donkeys and talk art and life.
You look beautiful!
And thank you so much for your comment on my film! 🙂
What a great photo of the two of you. I paint, color and dye everything, including my hair. But that’s because I am not as gorgeous as you are! You lovely thing.
I get excited the times you post a picture of yourself. It is fun to see you even if it isn’t in person.
I know Jeanne and met her at Artfest too and have seen her I think each year for the last 3 years. The first time she was wearing a full knee length wool coat because she was cold in that climate. Now I remember why, because she lives in that warmer place. She’s kinda cute in those glasses. And you know, your faces both look a LOT alike. Hmmm kind of like if you were sisters.
Thanks for showing us things you do and people you meet up with. It makes my life richer to include some of your experiences.

Keith laughed at me so much when I told him that I was excited about getting grey hair. I know what you mean about the dying merry-go-round – I would have badger hair the whole time. You both look so beautiful and happy! Artfest certainly was life-changing for me, I won’t make it next year (you never know we might see you over here though!), but I am going to Art & Soul in my homeland of Nova Scotia.
