inBeauty shot.
My wedding dress is living in my studio right now as my husband cleaned out the shed. The box it was in was crushed by our 2003 taxes, and he has declared that he’s not responsible for it anymore.
So here’s my dilemma. It doesn’t fit, OBVIOUSLY, and what do I need with a pale pink wedding gown anyway?
Maybe you can help me decide what to do!
Pick A, B or C in the comments:
A. Do the traditional thing and have it drycleaned and “wedding packaged,” even though it’s been 17 years, I can’t afford it, and I’m not really that kind of person.
B. Cut it up and make journals out of the fabric.
C. Stick it in a new cardboard box in the off chance that Wes’s future bride will want an early 1990s pink gown, and she happens to be a perfect size 12.
Vote away!

inI had the best time last weekend teaching at Carol Parks’ Noho Studio in Los Angeles. There were eight creatives around the table for three days and we drew, painted and sculpted till exhaustion.
This is my mother, Kay, and my sister, Kelly…
… Carin and Debi (her first art class ever!)…
… Carol R. and Teesha… (and our hostess, Carol Parks, in the kitchen preparing some snacks!)
… Patty and Elizabeth.
And here are a few of the things they made:
Kelly’s Picasso dog…
… Elizabeth’s Picasso dog…
… My mom’s dancing frog…
… Patty’s painting (she’s a science teacher!) …
… Debi’s stuffed elephant…
… and Kelly’s stuffed elephant…
… and Carol R.’s “bird-turned-pony.”
Somehow I missed photos of works by Carin, Teesha and Carol P. … so sorry! (But you can see some of Teesha’s here.)
Thank you to everyone who came and made this weekend so fun! What a great group. xoxoxoxoxo

This is mixed media on wood… you might recognize this little guy from this post.
I spent all day yesterday finishing another large commission… here is a detail (I can’t show the whole thing yet since it’s not yet approved/accepted by the client… just doesn’t feel right!).
And the above photo gives you a glimpse of how I get my animal ideas! (See the frog/lizard thing?)
Have a great day!

inBecause of the “ink-blot” way I’m painting these animals, the compositions are imposed on me… I probably would never have chosen to place this rabbit right up against the edge like this, but strangely, it’s working for me.
Today I have a few words to say on creativity on Notes From the Voodoo Cafe…
