Oh my gosh! I love it!!
This is Natalie (my cat), though it doesn’t look a bit like her because she “left” and so I finished the drawing from my imagination, and I let the human-eye thing emerge.
I really want to improve my line quality and drawing skills in general, so I am taking some lessons from a local artist… It’s scary being a student!!!
When home on my own I took my own (and others’) advice and copied some Old Master Drawings… the horse is a detail of a Delacroix and the eye is a detail from a Da Vinci drawing.

You can get a copy of this from the library and/or inter-library loan. You’ll find it helpful for your inner student in many ways.

Charcoal pencils are great! And so are your lines – I too love the squiggly cat, they give a sense of movement.
It must be very strange for you being a student – but at least the only person you have to look after in class is you!

These drawings are stunning the line is fantastic they look very much like the work of a well known artist in Devon Engalnd Valerie Davide? Google her i think you will like them. Its so fun! Great line quality! Good for you for challenging yourself with this! If you feel like it-try LYRA 2B water soluble graphite crayon. It is super fun. I think maybe you tried mine at PLAY this year? Can’t remember. Love the one of Natalie especially!

OMG!!! I LOVE LOVE LOVE THE CAT.. Carla.. AWESOME.
OK.. I have a hate/hate relationship with charcoal… when I blow my nose after working with charcoal.. the tissue looks like I have been working in a coal mine my WHOLE LIFE.
AND then I FORGET that I have Black Charcoal dust on my hand and accidentally touch my clothes… leaving a stain. YUCK!

haha… it IS a bit messy. The charcoal pencil is a lot LESS messy, though. Promise!
