Summer Camp is back! One-Week intensive workshop: August 6-10, 2012
In this class we’ll experiment with this easy and quick technique that creates some of the loveliest watercolor textures I’ve seen… if you love the intricate patterns found in a single rock, for example, you will love this class.
Using only t-shirt transfer paper and watercolors, we’ll first just play with brush techniques, working in layers and experimenting with fabric. (Watercolor on fabric? Yes!!)
Later in the week we will add other media to the mix: charcoal, ballpoint pen, crayon, and pastel to add even more texture and depth to these unique paintings.
And use cut and torn bits and pieces of the painted transfers to create fun and unique pieces of art:
We’ll also work with “plates” to create multi-layered paintings:
To Sign Up, Click HERE
– Several watercolor brushes – brushes that you have on hand, medium to large, round or flat
– Small set of watercolors (cake or tube is fine)
– One 30” x 40” sheet of hot press, 140# watercolor paper, torn down to eight 7.5” x 10” pieces; save remaining paper for extra paintings.
– One package (6 or 12 sheets) of regular t-shirt transfer paper for white fabric (Avery, etc.)
– white paper for drawing exercises (can be regular computer paper)
– ballpoint pen
– small set of water soluble markers (can be cheap)
– parchment paper (to protect your iron)
Optional items (I will demo these things but are not necessary to participate in the class):
– white cotton Fabric or t-shirt
– soft vine charcoal
– chalk pastels
I am having a difficult time getting the ‘Buy’ button to work…I can click on it but it doesn’t take me anywhere!
Hi Dotti! Thank you for the heads up…
I went in and changed it and hopefully it works now for you. If not, here’s the direct link:
I think all should be okay now. Thanks!
Hi…is this an online-only class, or is there a physical location where it is going to be held also? In the supply list you mention having plenty of watercolor brushes to share… thanks!
Oops… no, it’s online only. 😀
Do you need a printer for this class?
Hello! You would only need a printer to print the daily PDF worksheets, but many people can do without printing them off, and just do the assignments on blank paper. (But you don’t need it for the transfer part, no.)

So glad to have found your blog. Love you book and my children 17 (Ruby) and 13(Nicholas) have just found in on the kitchen bench and both have said ‘cool book’. It is my daughters room at the moment and she has started drawing again. Thank you
Love your rabbits-and your classes. It would be great to win one.

I hope I just signed up for the watercolour course. I may have been “click-happy” and signed up for the cereal box dolls by mistake. I hope that’s not a problem. Margo
ps really looking forward to playing with you via video

Well OK! YAY!!!!
hey i’m learning to work with watercolor pencils, will the watercolor transfer work with this?
Actually, pencils tend to tear the transfer paper… If you scribbled on a scratch piece of paper then wetted it with a brush, you could then paint on the transfer paper… but to draw right on it wouldn’t work very well!
Hi Carla, I love your classes and have taken every online class you offered. I am signing up for these two. You are so creative and I love to see your drawings that you post. alena

I’m totally ready! A;though my transfer paper is old… I should probably invest in a new package just in case. Your examples are amazing and beautiful!
I have plenty of Transfer Artist Paper (TAP) Will the TAP work??? Looking forward to camp!
I’m not sure if it will work EXACTLY the same, but yes, I’m sure it would work! Looks like great stuff!
Did I read that these classes are always available, once signed up, to refer back on???? Looks wonderful. Someone told me about you at http://www.artunraveled.com this weekend. Glad I looked you up!
Yes, that’s correct (indefinite class access)! Thanks so much, and thank you to the person at Art Unraveled, too!
It is August 6th, nearly lunchtime and I am waiting for my first watercolor assignment. Have I been forgotten?
You might want to email Carla directly – I got mine right on time
Hi… you should have received it! I will forward it manually now, and check on it later when I get to the office. Thanks!
Hi Carla, is it actually still possible to join the Watercolor Transfer workshop at this late date? I was really looking to learn about LAYERING watercolors on FABRIC and your techniques look so beautiful. Is there another one coming up soon that will cover that? Thanks so much.
Hi Eleanore! Thank you for your interest!
Yes, you are free to join now and catch up at your leisure… once you buy the class, it is yours to access indefinitely. Hope you join us!
Will enrolments be open for a while?
Yes, registration will remain open.
I plan to re-run a “live” session of this class in Spring 2013, but you are welcome to sign up anytime before that and work the class at your own pace.
Thanks for your interest!
