Just kidding!
I do have a very busy two weeks ahead of me, though. Besides my “job,” I have a goal to fill up a sketchbook with giraffes by the end of the month.
Did you know that giraffes only sleep five minutes at a time? Or that the average lifespan in the wild is 25 years? Or that they are strong enough to kill a lion, its only predator?
More to come, more to come.
Have a wonderful weekend!
Beautiful drawing, Carla.
oh just found your website and what a treat it is 🙂 I am going to browse some more.
Hi Carla,
First of all i want to apologize for my bad english! I am from The Netherlands. And i just bought two of your books: art of silliness and tekenlab (dutch).
I saw on your website that you also start with a online course Giraffes. Every day i want to click on THE button but i hesitate. Because i am not a good drawer. But i loves Giraffes and Eliphants!!!
250 dollar is a lot of money for me so i think i need your advise! Can you please tell me what to do??? Can i join THE course despite i am a bad drawer??????
I hope you can give me a advise!
Thanks and best regards,
Christine
Hi Christine!
I hope I can lay your fears to rest… this is a class that is exploring creativity, and drawing is a part of that. But, it doesn’t mean the drawings need to be “good!”
In fact, I think you would find that the ways I have you draw are pretty non-threatening, and we are definitely going more after the LOOKING of the giraffe than the drawings that come out of it. The current participants have a wide range of skills and confidence. Please don’t let you fear of not being “good enough” stop you!
If you love giraffes, I think you will like working/playing with a group of like-minded people!
I hope you can join us…
Carla
Christine, Carla’s approach to drawing is brilliant if you don’t feel at all confident. It’s all about looking and doing fun activities, and I’m sure you will find that your confidence in your drawing ability grow. Drawing Lab is my ‘go to’ book for drawing practice
In the UK the BBC have a David Attenborough series on at the moment called ‘Africa’. There was some great footage in the first week of two giraffes fighting. Hard to watch but amazing – they swing their necks at each other and whack them really hard.
Sounds like a fab course, money and time against me at the moment but never mind
