This has been an experimental month for me. Lots of quick drawings, trying different media… mostly giraffes, but every once in awhile a bird or an elephant sneaks in.
I found this quote by Alan Alda last night and wanted to share it with you!
Be brave enough to live creatively. The creative is the place where no one else has been. You have to leave the city of your comfort and go into the wilderness of your intuition. You cannot get there by bus, only by hard work, risking and by not quite knowing what you are doing. What you will discover will be wonderful: Yourself.
Your stuff always inspires me!
Wonderful quick sketches, Carla! and I love that quote, especially the part about “not quite knowing what you are doing.”
oh, so true.
Thanks for sharing your sketches-they always make me feel happy.
And I’m and saving the Alan Alda quote-it’s great, too!
Carla, I don¹t often respond (so many emails come in from all over the place .. you know how it goes) but want to say here and now that I love your drawings. That giraffe one¹s great, I love the use of very little line and the suggestion of markings. Also thanks so much for the quote by Alan Alda. Thank you thank you thank you. love, Lesley
Carla,
This quote by Alan Alda says it ALL. My younger daughter is an art major at Carleton and I sent this to her. Love your giraffe’s. I am still making imaginary creatures ~ and loving it!
Great sketches, love the bird!
Carla, These are just wonderful. I do love the giraffes too. The combination of the simplicity, the view of the backs of the giraffes, and the polka dots is just joyful. I am having so much fun working on my creations from your online workshop. Alda’s quote sums it up. Creating imaginary creatures is taking me to a new creative place. I had no idea that would happen when I signed up for the class on a lark. Thank you!
Your art brings me joy. Thank you.
These are wonderful Carla! I love the playfulness of these drawings!
Such wonderful art Carla!I especially love the bird:)
Just working my way through Drawing Lab, it is fantastic and has helped me so much. I love your work!
Carla-
Just love the giraffes, they are “simply” sweet. A perfect addition to your year of giraffes.
Marsha
I always seem to find the inspiration after the fact. I am still trying to find myself.
I started a new journal and yesl I have to say I bought this one. It is the one by the “Ranger” dude or dudette. I just wanted a sketch pad that could handle different types of mediums. This one so far is.
Love that quote! And your bird! 🙂
