Yummy Silliness.

Thank you for all the comments the past two days! Here’s another chance:
Book Giveaway, Day #3!
Lately I’ve been doing a slew of radio interviews to help promote “The Art of Silliness.” They’ve been lots of fun, and it got me to thinking that it’s time to give away some copies of the book!
“The Art of Silliness” is a workbook-style book that you can draw right into…click here if you’d like to preview some inside pages.
I’m giving away five books this week! International entries welcome. Just leave a comment for a chance to win a copy (and come back each day this week for four more chances!). I’ll pick today’s random winner at noon PST Thursday (4/18).
And please, tell your friends!
To win a copy, leave a comment now!
(And thanks to Perigee Books for providing the giveaway copies!)

Stacey Gower said:
Hi Carla,
Perfect place and person to share this sorta’ silly happening: My very funny and creative granddaughter and I spent an absolutely fun and beutiful afternoon at the park near athe lake. We had a picnic lunch complete with S’mores and grilled hot dogs. We tried to touch the sky while we were swinging, watched the “Eoly Poly” bugs scurrying about, honed our Frisbee skills and of course sketche a bit in the sand. On the way home we were talking and my sweet girl siad, “Gramma do you know what animal you remind me of?” “Hmmmm, a dog?” I ask. “No, a giraffe of course!” I had to laugh because when i questioned her thought process on this choice of annimal, she said I was “as fun as a pet giraffe!” No idea where that came from but I love it and I thought of your year long giraffe creative exploratory and HAD to share…..=} Smiles all around!

Definition: sil·ly (sl)
adj. sil·li·er, sil·li·est
1. Exhibiting a lack of wisdom or good sense; foolish. See Synonyms at foolish.
2. Lacking seriousness or responsibleness; frivolous: indulged in silly word play; silly pet names for each other.
3. Semiconscious; dazed: knocked silly by the impact.
The definition in the dictionary seems harsh at times but accurate in essence. Silly is fun, silly creates joy, silly gives us permission to be free from our own judgement. The “Art of Silliness” is synonymous with the art of having a creative joyful life.
My surname is Cillié and is pronounced Cil-yeh but but as we are living in the United Arab Emirates and people are not familiar with the French pronunciation, they are addressing me as Mrs. Silly. After correcting them for 10 years and have now embraced being Mrs. Silly. Looking forward to getting even sillier as I reach my fifties. 🙂
Enny said:

Thanks!

The pineapple slices look like some kind of exotic daisies. They also look sort of like what a scientist might see through a microscope. I wonder what pineapple cells look like?

I was born an adult. I tell everyone I’m living my first childhood in my 60’s. When I looked at your book, the “adult” in me told me every reason why such silliness is stupid. But the child in me can’t wait to do the drawings. (I have to admit, the adult is just scared. She really wants permission to do them, too.) She would really, really love your book. But if I don’t win it, I will buy it for her because she needs as much silliness as she can get!

Scanning dried pineapple…and then eating! Now that is silliness! I would have much trouble with self control in waiting until the scan was finished. I would love to add more silliness to my life. I’d really love your book!

Rescued damp hat from the pool. Tossing it in again for another chance. Stay as silly as you are.
