Recently I was approached by the delightful Tam Laporte to teach a section in her next “Life Book 2014” online class, where she has gathered 22 other artists to partner in a year-long art journaling/mixed-media journey! And the best news? I am the first teacher out of the box besides Tam herself… my lesson will go live in the beginning of January 2014!
Well, the BEST news really is that I’m able to GIVE AWAY a class spot right here, right now. Leave a comment below telling me why you would like to take this online class, and I’ll pick a winner randomly on Friday, September 27th.
THANK YOU, everyone! The winner was Denise Smart, picked randomly via random.org. Denise — I will email you directly. Thanks again, everyone!

Okay, for my reply as to why I would like to take this class would be:
Now that my daughter is on her own way to greatness applying for Grad School to get a Masters/Ph.D….it is my turn to fly and venture out. (I was a stay at home / home school mum for 16 years). For the past two years now, I have discovered ART in my ripe ole age of 52!! And this art journey is amazing! So I wish to take this class so that I can keep on learning and adding to what I have already learned these two years. Learning from so many different styles of art would be so rewarding!
Thank you for such an exciting Giveaway!

I was a serious art quilter and teacher for more than 30 years. When I retired from my “real job” I decided to expand my art world. My first class was with you in Las Vegas….JUNK MAIL….I am a retired Postmaster. My first lesson was at the air port where I learned that gesso is a liquid an can’t fly. First jar in the trash unopened. your class inspired me so much and I follow you for continued inspiration. I made CRAZY FLOWERS with you and love love love where that has sent me. I have funny little creatures that hang with me in my journals. The Life Book sounds like a wonderful class….experience 24 different teacher ! With your backing I will be taking the class….Now who wouldn’t like to receive it as a free giveaway.

Aaah, the 18th already here in the Netherlands. Would love to. Just discovered drawing. Following a lovely monthly course where I learn to work with all kinds of materials. This would be a great complement to it. Feel like there is a whole new world. Read somewhere last week, from a teacher answering her little daughters question: ‘What she was doing for her job.’ ‘Learning people to draw.’ was the answer. ‘Did they forget?’ the kid replied. Just how I feel about my drawing. Had to be like this, like that, and drawing like the course shows, wasn’t what teachers expected, so I sort of started disliking drawing. And drawing like the course says is what I wanted, wow.

Thank you Carla, & the rest of these great instructors, for this generous offering. Who wouldn’t want to take these classes offered in Life Book 2014? It will be my first year… I’ve not had an opportunity to join with other classes and workshops I’ve done – I take at least one a year and I like to devote my attention to the lessons and community, so one is usually all I can do. This lineup of teachers is definitely a community and course work I will choose for the coming year! Good luck to all! ~Hobby

I am so grateful to have the opportunity to win a spot for 2014 Life Book.
I have only recently found art (or it found me) as therapy – a way to forget about the health issues I’ve been diagnosed with. I’m finding that reading about all types of art and mixed media, playing with art and thinking about it has given me such joy. My 2 gorgeous kids and wonderful hubby are also loving the positive influence art is having on us all! My dear hubby has set me up a small table where I can draw or doodle or paint – and I’d love to join Life Book 2014 for the amazing community, teaching, inspiration, knowledge and encouragement.
Thanks so much, kindest regards, Michelle ❤

Hi, Carla! Congratulations on being part of Life Book 2014! I love your whimsical, carefree style and that you embrace silliness! I would love to win a spot in Life Book because I am going through a major life transition. I have put some big health challenges behind me, and I’m going back to school to follow my calling to become a coach. I just got back from the first class, and my classmates gave me some wonderful feedback. They said they loved how open and present I was, but they’d like to see me loosen up and have more fun. So I really resonate with embracing the silliness right now. I will be in training for a year and a half, and I think it would awesome to be part of Life Book 2014. It would give me a structure – a reminder – to just play and be silly each week. A reason to continue regularly making art. When I’m creating, I get so in the flow that all the chatter in my brain goes away and it recharges me so much. Being part of Life Book would allow me to recharge, to embrace the silliness, and to capture so much of what I am learning as I move forward through this growth phase. Thank you so much for your generosity. Best wishes and blessings to you and whomever you choose! ♥
