There aren’t too many scraps of paper that make it into a “recycle bin,” but instead end up the “collage drawers.”
A few weeks ago I strung some scraps on some thread to create these little Trashy Birds, which are now hanging behind my desk in my studio.
They’re easy to make… take scraps of paper, make a bird head and body, cut some scraps large enough for wings and tails, and then just thread them up and tie off.
Have a fun week everyone!
Love these Carla! Would make great birds for a rainforest canopy!
So amusing…and a great way to recycle.
These are the tweetist birds I’ve ever seen!!!!! Verrrrrrrrrrrry cool.
Scrap happy!! So much fun! Glad they are soaring near your workplace. I spent yesterday gluing cut ends into little roof tiles! Today I got out a Tombow pen out to sketch cats after having to put my old man cat down yesterday. Now I’m sketching penciled cat dreams around these. They will be cards for my granddaughters who will surely miss the old man cat on their next visit. I was going to draw birds but only had room for a feather on each. Today and yesterday was using up scraps to make cards for family. I may just get out some scraps and make wings for birds tomorrow. Thanks for the inspiration.
I LOVE the trashy birds!

Carla, they are adorable!
They are really funny those trashy birds. I am going to make some, scraps are around in heaps.
How clever! A great way to recycle!!! Go green!
You are so creative! Very cool!
Cute idea!!
what i great idea…I covet each scrap piece of paper no matter how small…and it seems a bit ridiculous because I have tons of it…but i love the idea of stringing it….thanks for sharing
