Assignment #11 from “Drawing Lab: A Fun and Silly Art Kit” Hi today! Another drawing exercise in this kit is “One-Liners.” This exercise is inspired by the wonderful one-line drawings of Picasso, and consist of creating many fast drawings using ONE line only (once you put pen to paper, you don’t lift your hand from the page). This “limitation” (must be done quickly, and with only one line) forces your subconscious to make your decisions, and will often result in elephants (or bicycles or houses or rabbits or toilets) that you might never have thought to draw the more traditional way:

Dear Carla, The prize is neither here nor there as my granddaughter and I had a wonderful time together making our paper dolls fairytales. That, to me, was worth more than anything. The value she got out of it is so evident in her absolute joy in making paper dolls, drawing with her eyes closed, with her left hand and colouring in blobs.

My favourite thing about all those elephants is that they all DO look like elephants, none of them look like squiggles… I can see their point, those elephants are really creative.

A one-line drawing seems so simple when you hear about it, You introduced me to the concept in the Imaginary Animals online class. Sounds simple – but not that simple for me. I really struggle with getting out of my own way – but one-line drawing has been so good for me! Thank you again for the giveaway opportunity!
