This weekend I made these three wire-and-fiber wrapped animals… super fun to make, and the stars of my next lesson for 2015: Year of the Spark, the online class I’m co-teaching with Lynn Whipple this year.
The class has been a wonderful experience so far — the participants are brilliant and inspiring! Carolyn wrote today:
Cannot tell you how much I am enjoying being a Sparklet. I have done more art in the past month than I managed alone in a year. Many thanks for a great course.

Oh, these are so cute, as an art teacher I have done this with some of my students, based on the ideas in your book and referencing the Tjanpi (Aboriginal) Desert Weavers of Australia. Worked so well, and then I had the students draw their creature in a setting, they looked gorgeous!

HI Carla:
As usual you provide oodles of inspiration for my work with art therapy clients. I also really love Katie Chin’s idea of drawing them in an environment. Can’t wait to think through who this would be appropriate for in my office. They are very accessible and lovely and touchable.
Cheers,
Amy

These are really cute. I also love your ragged animals sewing class. I once made a tiny horse sculpture from toothpicks glued every which way. I wrapped it in thin thread for skin, then dipped in in many layers of paint so it was multicolored. It took a long time and I think it turned out great – my dog loved it. He took one look and crunched it to kindling. I guess he had something stuck in his teeth and needed a toothpick. Thanks for inspiring a great old memory.
