Hello everyone!
This is the week that “Y is for Yellow” launches… I’m a tad behind on emailing… if your request is urgent, please email me again and I will get back to you asap!
The above drawing was based on a childhood photograph. Can you guess which one is me?
I read this yesterday:
“I try to push ideas away, and the ones that will not leave me alone are the ones that end up happening.” — J.J. Abrams
One of the projects I’m going to try to complete this year is a sort of “visual story” based on photos and memories of my childhood… it’s super scary! But the idea has been “hanging around” for long enough that I hope to attend to it this year.
That’s it for now. Have a wonderful day!
P.S. The class codes for “Y is for Yellow” were sent out yesterday. If you have signed up for the class and didn’t receive it, email me! If you can, please include your receipt number so I can search more easily. Thank you!
Hi Carla, I’m already in – love all your online classes! And what you wrote in your post, that’s exactly the thing I’ve always dreamed of….so excited!!!!
I think they are both you – the small one is the happy you and the big one is the sad you. They are both wearing see-through dresses! (which of course means you were transparent with your feelings . . .!!!!!!!)
Very cool project! It’s like a personal archeology dig through imagery and art. Very powerful.
I think you are the smiling one trying to cheer up your sister or friend! You always cheer me up with your art! 💖💕
Yes that’s an interesting project. And I can imagine a bit scary – you get to dig up all kinds of memories both nice and hard ones. Powerful indeed.
I think two sides of you – the small you cheering up the sad you.
Or an innocent remark from someone (small girl) hurting you (still).
You are the older sister I had put that in my memory but was not sure, so I went back in images and found you with your sister in yellow dresses!
I was an only child. Found out about sisters given up for adoption as babies before I was born when I was 50! My granddaughter is the older sister and she takes care of the younger one when there’s trouble!
I look forward to seeing your work Carla as it’s bound to be heartfelt and soulful because it’s from your memories.
