I sent this newsletter out a few days ago, but wanted to post it here as well. –Carla

Hi everyone!
I hope you are well.
Many of you know that Steve and I live in Seattle and have been somewhat affected by the current health situation, and we know that many of our friends around the world might be having an even more difficult time as well.
And so we just wanted to reach out with our thoughts and encouragement, and we hope that this community of artists can be an encouragement in this weird time.
Making and sharing art can be a comforting and helpful a way to refocus our thoughts…. To that end, we have reduced the cost of all of our classes by 15% (at least until the end of March), and have added Faces Mini and Flower Crazy Mini to our “Free Stuff” page (where there are also five years of Kids Art Week classes):

So if you are staying home (or have kids at home), we hope this can be a little bit of a positive distraction!
We hope everyone can stay creative and engaged, and please don’t hesitate to reach out if we can help in any way.
xoxo
Steve and Carla
P.S. I love our grandson Ethan’s cat “Sam,” above, and I’ve been playing with his image this week. Thanks, Ethan!
Thank you so much for the free access. That is so thoughtful and generous of you. I am a preschool teacher so am home (unpaid) for as long as our lockdown lasts and am looking for ways to keep my own four kids occupied and stimulated each day. Stay healthy and happy.
Please take care of yourself. We want a long relationship.
Stay safe.
So nice of you. You made me realise how Lucky i am top have an artsy way. I am careful but not anxious I am working on some artist books…

Thank you Carla. Isn’t it wonderful how people band together in a crisis to help each other out.
Love your mini workshops….and hope you don’t mind if I send links to some arty friends.
I have your books and find they keep me amused on holidays when I don’t take much art-making stuff with me.
Stay well, busy, and most of all….optimistic.
Love what you did with Ethan’s drawing. Shows how much creative work can be done from one lovely piece of inspiration. Thank you for adding free resources.
I wanted to comment on the tip about Maira Kalman. I immediately bought the book about dogs.. ever since our dog came into my life 2 years ago my life changed.. for the better! It is really amazing how much hapiness a dog can bring you. ( And yes, grey hairs as well 🙂 )
And also: thank you thank you thank you thank you for the classes. Then, now and in the future.
Stay well.
Barbara
