This is the beginning of an exquisite-corpse-like book I started over a year ago, playing around with collage, colored pencils, pencil and white ink… I’d abandoned it, but finding it again renews my interest in the project. (Maybe!)

I am grateful these days for the relative calm here at the office; there’s always a lot to do still, but things are more in balance.

Steve and I spent a few days in Portland last week and had a great time eating out, poking into awesome stores, and hiking a bit in the arboretum. It was kind of an anniversary getaway, as we turn 20 years tomorrow as a couple!

A Busy Weekend!

Friday night: Went to the Seattle Lutheran High School production of “Don’t Drink the Water” by Woody Allen. Funny! (Wes played the priest, who also happens to be an amateur magician.)

Saturday: Track Meet. Then, played tennis with my daughter-in-law for the first time in ten (?) years? I loved it. But… I’m SO sore today!

Sunday: Had a live “Flower Power” work session at the studio. Lots of fun and lots of great art by the women who came… yay! We worked on paintings with collage as our beginnings; the piece above was one of the demo pieces.

And I have a busy week ahead. Busy = Good. I am grateful!

“Flower Crazy” Online Class

Hello! Lately I’ve been FLOWER CRAZY!

I’ve been hosting online classes for almost two years now, and have long wanted to offer a more in-depth painting class, showing the techniques I’ve developed the last 15 years with watercolor, gesso, collage, and other fun stuff… With the flowers emerging these last two months, everything “clicked.” So here we go!

Over the weekend I spent two quick days in Berkeley, CA at The Teahouse Studio, at a two-day workshop with the wonderful Susy Pilgrim Waters and Sarajo Frieden…

… paint and paper…

… gel medium, collage bits, and other fun stuff…

… for some reason these temple-churches kept appearing…

… and, of course, the flowers!

I had a great time, and was happy to spend two full days playing with paint and paper, in the company of so many nice people! It’s a really wonderful, warm and friendly venue, so do check it out!
