These three images were taken with my phone yesterday morning before we left Joshua Tree, CA, where we were filming my friend Karine Swenson’s new class on Abstract Painting. (Details tomorrow!)
We had a wonderful two days with Karine, her husband Mattias, and Pono the dog. Oh! And the cacti and cameras, too!

Thought for a minute you were swimming into a shark’s mouth! Then I remembered you were in a desert (: Whew!

Was sure you were at an aquarium doing shark week! Congrats on the surprise and good luck on the shoot!
Really nice photos Carla. Would your friend know anything about abstract comics?? I am really into this genre.

Wow, such intriguing forms and astonishing colors. Can’t wait to hear what they are! And about the course as well. 😉
Those are beautiful. I thought those were some gelli plate prints at first…heehee… And when I realized those were photos, I said to myself “Where did she find those cannibal-plants”…. :o) A good photo has to make one think… and that’s exactly what those did for many people, I think! 🙂 Bravo!
When does the class start abstract painting?
Beautiful colors. My brother called and is coming down from Marysville, CA to visit me and take me out to eat. I haven’t seen him in years but we have been kidding around on the computer lately. xxoo, Mom
